News: Nasty C (@Nasty_CSA) claims his freedom with fifth studio album "FREE"
South African hip-hop heavyweight, Nasty C steps into a new chapter of independence and creative freedom with the release of his fifth studio album, FREE. Released under his own imprint, Tall Racks Records, the project marks his first as a fully independent artist - a bold declaration of creativity and artistic freedom.
"The title was inspired by how I feel free from a lot of different things - a lot of external and internal pressures," he explains. "It also represents feeling free to create, be whoever I want to be, and express myself however I want."
FREE isn't just another collection of tracks; it's a statement. For Nasty C, this project means liberation from industry expectations, the pressures of fame, and creative limits. As he puts it:
"FREE is basically just me feeling like I'm free from external pressures. Free to create whatever I want and be whoever I want for however long I want to be that person."
The album runs across 16 tracks, featuring collaborations with some of Africa's most dynamic voices including Blxckie, Usimamane, DJ Speedsta, Tellaman, and Tshego. Singles like Psychic, Soft, and Leftie (Dlala Ngcobo) reflect Nasty C's willingness to experiment, blending hip-hop with R&B, Afrobeat, and other electronic sounds while staying true to his signature style and flow that fans have come to love. Each track feels purposeful and showcases his growth as an artist who isn't afraid to challenge boundaries and redefine his sound.
Looking back, projects like Bad Hair, Strings and Bling, and I Love It Here mapped his journey from breakout teenager to a global cultural voice. FREE takes that even further, asserting Nasty C not just as a leading South African artist, but as a global creative force willing to define his own path.
The message is clear: Nasty C is unshackled. His freedom promises bold, unfiltered music that continues to push the boundaries of African hip-hop.
