News: Jillz recruits Zeze Kingston and Tay Grin for New Single "Energy"
South Africa-based, Malawian producer and recording artist Jillz has released a new single titled "Energy" featuring Zeze Kingston and Tay Grin.
The collaboration brings together three notable names from different generations of Malawi's contemporary music scene, highlighting the continued rise of cross-generational and cross-style collaborations within the industry.
Energy was first officially premiered on MBC Radio 2 FM's popular radio show 'Made On Monday', hosted by DJ Joy Nathu before later being released and made available on digital streaming platforms.
For Jillz, Energy marks another step in his ongoing evolution from a behind-the-scenes producer into a fully established recording artist. The transition has been shaped by key releases such as his "Mud to Water" project, which played a defining role in establishing his identity as a recording act, alongside subsequent singles including "Fela" and "Pressure".
On the new record, he links up with Zeze Kingston, one of Malawi's most prominent contemporary voices, and Tay Grin, a long-standing figure in the country's urban music space whose influence continues to span over a decade.
Beyond the collaboration, Energy reflects a broader shift within Malawi's music landscape, where artists across different eras are increasingly coming together to create music that connects with wider and more diverse audiences.
As the local industry continues to grow its footprint both regionally and internationally, releases like Energy underscore the importance of collaboration in shaping its sound and direction.
Energy is now available on digital streaming platforms.
