News: Toast (@_toastofficial_) delivers his long-awaited debut album "FILES"
After a long wait, Malawian rap sensation, Toast has finally come through with the release of his highly anticipated debut album titled, "F.I.L.E.S".
Serving as his most personal and complete work to date, it features 18 tracks and collaborations with Kim of Diamonds, Viddix, and Sean Morgan. Each guest appearance feels organic, showcasing the chemistry and shared experiences they have with Toast.
From the first note, FILES (which stands for Faith In Lost Eternal Stories) feels more like a collection of reflections of growth. It covers Toast's journey over the year as an artist and dedication in creation.
"I think I have grown. I will let the audience decide, but I believe I'm heading somewhere with my craft," Toast said in an interview.
With production credits from the likes of Viddix, Kwemo, Bluepalken, Vic Chill, Desert Eagle, Jonstard, DJ Brown, and Trappybeats the album delivers a polished sound that keeps Toast’s voice at the forefront without overshadowing the overall vibe. The beats transition seamlessly from Hip-Hop roots to Afro infused, and Dancehall inspired rhythms.
Kicking off the album's release the track "How You Do That?" featuring Kim of Diamonds was released earlier and has already made a splash with its catchy and confident energy. Meanwhile, "Everything Nice" with Sean Morgan continues their collaborative journey, adding more depth and richness to the project.
But FILES is more than just a collection of songs. It's Toast's answer to the current challenges facing Malawi's hip-hop scene; the inconsistency, the lack of visibility, and the need for greater unity. Rather than complain, he leads by example, presenting a cohesive, honest, and high-quality project that sets a new standard.
Toast isn't jut rapping for the sake of it, he's attempting to create a lasting impact. FILES showcases that with dedication, Malawi's hip-hop scene can still deliver powerful stories if told right.
